I wish

I wish I had a wife
someone to do the washing;
the ironing; the cooking; the
housework. Who'd soothe away
the creases after a hard days
work. Who'd buy the groceries;
the vegies, the meat. Put
slippers on my feet. Give
me a smile when i was feeling down.
Keep the children out of my hair.
Mind them when i went to the pub
or club. Someone to answer the
phone. Deal with the rent collector;
the bank manager; tradesmen; the
milk man. Pay all the bills on a
small allowance. Buy my clothes.
Make me endless cups of tea; wash
the nappies, feed the baby. Someone
who would choose the right card
for the right occasion. Ah,
I wish i had a wife.
